Petrozavodsk State University held an evening of the Baltic and Finnish culture

For two months, first-year students of the Department of Baltic and Finnish Philology have been expanding their knowledge of the culture, history and language of Karelians and Finns.

The students decided to demonstrate the results they have achieved and once again present the identity of the northern peoples at the evening of Baltic and Finnish culture. The song "Долго будет Карелия сниться" was performed in Karelian and Russian, a song from the musical "Notre Dame de Paris" - in Finnish. They also sang couplets in the Udmurt language. Students talked about the traditional Karelian instruments, customs and costumes. They performed a Karelian folk dance, played the kantele and acted in a skit devoted to the Christmas holidays.
